Trayvon IV This quilt is called Trayvon IV. In 2018, the creator, Cassandra Gunkel was moved to remember the black child murdered in Florida on his way to buy skittles. Like our president, Martin's murder hit Ms. Gunkel hard. She needed to lift him up for public viewing as the child that he was. The quilt was juried into a national exhibition, and selected by Alison Saar as the face of an international print competition in NYC in 2019. It has travelled to all corners of our country since its birth. The quilt is a 9 block Applique quilt. Each block uses a variety of denim fabric to create the shape of a hooded face. Each face is block printed with the same eyes, nose and mouth. The quilt is 40 by 52 inches.
