Program for a concert given by the Dra Mu Opera Company on November 3, 1947 at the Academy of Music.

The Dra Mu Opera Company was the only Black ensemble devoted to performing opera.
Founded in 1945 by Raymond Lowden Smith, who was a Philadelphia post office clerk. Smith was also a violinist and director of the Philadelphia Concert Orchestra.
The company was active mainly in the late 1940's and 1950's. In addition to Carmen, the company's repertoire included Aida, Faust, and Cavalleria Rusticana.
